About Us

Urban West Projects Inc. was formed in 2012 to provide Development Management consulting services to those Property Owners seeking a strategic development process and an experienced Development Team to assist in the planning and delivery of urban development projects.

From a foundation of strong design and construction acumen, Urban West mitigates risk and brings efficiency to their projects through collaboration and a team approach.

The Principal

The Principal at Urban West Projects Inc. has over thirty years of experience in the development industry. This includes master planned mixed use and phased urban projects in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, Calgary, Toronto, and the Southwest United States. Prior to starting in Development Management, the Principal was a licensed architect with twelve years in practice.

The Team

Larry Kerr

Larry Kerr had been a registered architect in commercial practise for 12 years prior to joining an international development company in 1996 as Development Manager. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in master planned mixed use development in Canada and the Southwest United States. He has worked in Senior Management for Henderson Development, Intrawest and Wesgroup. Experienced in all forms of residential and commercial design and development process, Larry has used his experience to deliver defined projects expeditiously within set cost parameters. His collaborative approach to housing and social issues has led him to participate on the boards of non-profit organizations dedicated to providing affordable housing and delivering care to people with disabilities. He has also dedicated a commitment to Design Panels, Housing, and Building Committees.

Alex Chong
Sr. Construction Manager

Alex Chong is an architect with 32 years of experience in Project, Construction and Design Management in a diverse range of hospitality, commercial, industrial and residential projects including:
○ 33-storey mixed use tower in New Westminster, BC
○ 1650 West 2nd in Vancouver, B.C.
○ Inter IKEA shopping centre in Wuhan
○ Shangri-la Hotel, Beijing
○ Meritus Hotel, Shantou
○ Lion Food Industries in Qingpu, Shanghai

Alex is a mature professional with the necessary skills, experience and technical know-how to oversee projects in an efficient and timely manner while overlooking the bottom line and controlling cost creep. He has worked with international architectural firms, engineering consultants and developers including Aterlier ADT Akitek, Lion Properties, and Shangri-la Hotels. While at Altus Group in China Alex handled multiple projects while reporting directly to the Director of Construction in China. Alex has been consulting for Urban West since 2018 and during that time founded Davina BIM Tech Inc. to provide construction companies and developers with an integrated software that incorporates real-time construction monitoring and quantity take-offs. Alex, as a Sr. Construction Manager and CEO of Davina BIM Tech, helps Urban West to provide thorough, high quality construction management on behalf of our clients.

Andrew Graham
Development Manager

Andrew Graham joined the Urban West team as a Development Manager in 2017 to help in the administration of their growing portfolio. Andrew received his bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University in 2010. Committed to ongoing learning and professional development, Andrew obtained a Project Management Professional designation in 2020 and continues to bolster his knowledge through industry focused learning opportunities. In his time managing projects in Urban West’s portfolio, Andrew has had the opportunity to establish connections with BC Housing, CMHC, VAHA, social housing agencies, not for profits and municipal planning and building departments. With a project portfolio that includes industrial, commercial, market condo, market rental, and affordable/social housing Andrew has a diverse understanding of varying financial models to be able to create and analyze proformas, assess and monitor project feasibility, and to provide jurisdictional administration. His growing experience lends itself to Urban West’s commitment to project efficiency, detailed information analysis, quality communication, and forming foundational relationships.

Patti Graham
Financial Administrator

Patti Graham is an experienced Financial Administrator with a diverse background portfolio that includes work with large associations, non-profits, boutique private companies and sole proprietors in a variety of industries. Joining Urban West in 2016, Patti manages the day-to-day business and administers development project financials. Drawing on Patti’s experience and expertise, Urban West is able to help new developers to set up their accounts, create and manage unique projects, and track and report costs for lenders or partners.
